National Building Museum

Isaac met Maya at the National Building Museum for a play date.
They graciously allowed some other kid to join them.
Isaac got a little frustrated that the cars were attached to the table.

PACE Gatherings

A few of Isaac's PACE buddies came over for a reunion in January:
Lucy rocking out with maracas
Margot and Maya reading a story together (not pictured: Isaac giving Margot a smooch goodbye on her way out)
A valiant attempt at gathering for a group photo

And today, Isaac and his PACE buddies got together at their old stomping ground.  Major thanks to the Commissary waitstaff who - while a bit clueless about dining with toddlers (they came around with votive candles and packets of Sweet & Low for the table) - were very patient with our rather unruly group.

Isaac's friends look on in horror as he removes his place mat
Margot joins in.  Maya, Oliver, and Elliot look away, embarrassed by the childish behavior.

President's Day Weekend Getaway

We spent the weekend with friends at a house on the Eastern Shore. Isaac was delighted to hang out with the big kids and get in the way of their big-kid activities.  They were good sports about it (saving their choking-hazard craft-making for Isaac's naptime) and took very good care of him (giving Mom and Dad some nice downtime).

Chocolate cake and cookies - Happy Valentine's Day!

Squealing with delight as an entourage of beautiful girls parades him around the pizza parlor

Big thanks to David, our dear friend and group photographer, for capturing some high-quality pics like the one above (the low-quality pics are Mom and Dad's).

16 Month Vocab Update

Isaac is busy these days expanding his vocabulary.  Before the new year, "dada" (meaning his dad and many other things), "uh-oh", "dog", "toaster", and "more" were pretty much the only words firmly in his repertoire.  In the past month he's added "cracker", "bye-bye", "coffee" (which sounds a lot like cracker), "mama" (finally!), "box", "socks", "shoes", "owl", "button",  "bowl", "spoon", "stir", "down", "cheese", "banana" (minus the b sound), and "Nana" (also the word for "FaceTime").  His favorite word, though, is "car".  It's all about cars.  Cars on the street, car toys, and cars in books (like the one pictured here).

Groundhog Day

Getting ready to join the Groundhog Day celebation in Dupont Circle
Enjoying the free hot cocoa

Checking out the crowd
Listening to people in funny hats saying funny things

Not sure what to think of the stuffed groundhog
Playing with a buddy's soccer ball
Not too bad at kicking the ball
After the celebration was over, it was time to hit the road with his buddy
